Problogger’s Darren Rowse on His Income Distribution

by John Soares on May 6, 2010

Darren Rowse of Problogger is one of the best-known bloggers in the world, and he makes a very good living at it.

Darren is also one of the co-founders of Third Tribe Marketing (affiliate link), which I belong to and highly recommend, and he’s the author of 31 Days to Build a Better Blog (affiliate link), one of the best $20 investments of my life.

Darren just created a video in which he discusses his income breakdown for the month of April. A good portion of it comes directly from selling information products like 31 Days to Build a Better Blog, and from continuity income from Third Tribe Marketing and other programs.

Here are his income categories (he has multiple blogs):

  • Adsense
  • Affiliate
  • E-books
  • Continuity Programs
  • Direct Ad Sales
  • Chitika
  • Amazon
  • Job Boards
  • Speaking

As he says during the video, not all of these income sources will fit for every blog and business, but it’s good to see what’s working for other people.

The Problogger blog has an honored place on the blogroll here and on my RSS feed.

Do you read Problogger? What do you think?

I do read ProBlogger on occasion and I find Darren to be a super cool guy. I haven’t bought the book, but I did see the income breakdown. Very interesting to see he has some many streams working. Makes me realize I need to do more.

Mike, thanks for writing.

I think it’s always good to see what other people are doing that’s working. What works for one person in one niche won’t necessarily work for another person in another niche, but we can always learn something.
