The best weekly collection of links related to blogging and being effective on the Internet? — Kristi Hines’s Fetching Friday posts on Kikolani.com. Required reading for me every week.
Selling Information Products
On this blog, I wrote about:
- The need for a separate Twitter account for this blog
- Fred Gleeck’s information product marketing webinars
- When and how to use donate/tip buttons on your blog
And others I recommend:
- Mike Young at the Internet Law Resources blog dishes the dirt on “Internet Scams: Going Public.”
- Glenn Livingston discusses why we shouldn’t fear competition.
- Fred Gleeck discusses clever ways to create information products.
- Dave Doolin shares how he “unlaunched the s**t out of his ebook.” Let’s learn from his experience.
- Alex Whalley tells you how to split test with Adsense.
Social Media
- Aaron Lee dishes on the best way to do Twitter in his article “Twitter Marketing from A to Z.” Aaron, Twitter is one of my new focuses (OK, foci), so thanks brother.
- One of my favorite blogs is Growmap.com by Gail Gardiner. She wrote an alarming post about how the popular WordPress plugin Akismet deletes some comments without allowing the blog owner to see them.
- On Facebook local Mount Shasta artist Nikolas Allen shared a link to the New Media Photographer blog and a mind-blowingly long list of “505 Marketing Ideas.” If you only had the time to do even a hundred of these…
- Peter Wylie argues that businesses can use social media effectively in his “Top 5 Social Media Myths Debunked” piece. This is important reading, and he’s got data.
My Other Blogs
- On my Intelligent Productivity: Work Less, Live More blog I wrote about “The Importance of Free Time Alone.”
- On my Northern California Hiking Trails blog I covered hiking Half Dome in Yosemite, dangers for hikers from snowmelt, and five climbing accidents on Mount Shasta last weekend.
Like these links? Find ‘em useful? Let me know!
Have a great weekend, and do something fun that gets you outside and away from the Internet and your cell phone.

Dave, “How to Launch the **** Out of Your Ebook” has been on my radar for a while. I know I’d learn some valuable tips from it. Priorities, priorities…
I strongly suggest that everyone read Dave’s post (see above in his comment and in my blog post) and click his link to find out what “How to Launch the **** Out of Your Ebook” is all about.
What a thorough review John, fantastic. Thanks so much for the mention, I am in good company I see, so thankyou. But seriously, this is so well laid out, I love that you have divided your recommendations into relevant areas.
Is this going to be a regular feature? It should be if not!
Lot of work went into this too, appreciated John.
Alex´s last blog ..Not making enough money? Then Change the Channel.
Alex, I’m glad you like this.
I do plan to make this regular feature; this is the second week I’ve done it. I got the idea of breaking it into categories from Kristi Hines at Kikolani.com.

TheInfoPreneur´s last blog ..TheInfoPreneur’s Instant Wordpress Training is LIVE
Brandon, hiking is a major passion of mine. I began my writing career in the early 1990s by writing two hiking guides and over a 100 articles for newspapers and magazines.
I hope you do hike the Appalachian Trail. A friend of mine did the entire Pacific Crest Trail in 2006.
Glad you like this weekend reading feature…
