Selling Information Products
On this blog I wrote about:
- How I’m writing my ebook about information products in only 30 minutes a day — because I’ve been so damned busy.
- Why I saw a substantial traffic decline for one of my info product sites — and what I did it about it.
- Yet another major hack on Godaddy in an update to one of my most popular posts — “Why I Left Godaddy Hosting.”
And others I recommend:
- Alex Whalley provides an excellent primer on SEO in his post “How to Optimize Your Site with Your Googles On.”
- Dave Navarro of The Product Launch Coach blog examines the process of “Driving Sales Through Surveys.”
- Dave Doolin gives good advice about getting and using anchor text in links.
- Matthew Needham of The Big Red Tomato Company wrote a guest post on The Infopreneur with a lot of useful advice for those of us who write and sell e-books: “Lessons Learned from an Ebook Launch, Part 5.” Be sure to read the earlier installments also.
Social Media
- Third Tribe Marketing cofounder Chris Brogan gives you a quick “50 Power Twitter Tips.” Very useful to me since I’m still fairly new at Twitter.
- Kristi Hines of Kikolani.com discusses the many benefits of bloggers working together for mutual benefit in “8 Best Practices for Collaborative Blog Groups.”
- Susan Gunelius at BloggingPro shares important data about numbers of bloggers and age categories in “Who’s Blogging? Just the Facts Ma’am.”
- Problogger and another Third Tribe Marketing cofounder Darren Rowse gives you “4 Tips for Increasing Conversions on Your Blog.”
My Other Blogs
- On my Intelligent Productivity: Work Less, Live More blog I wrote about “Ending Phone Interruptions.”
- On my Northern California Hiking Trails blog I covered another blogger’s post about Big Basin Redwoods State Park, even more climbing accidents on Mount Shasta (falls, struck by falling objects…), and what a charity is doing to let hikers help kids with AIDS.
Featured Weekly Link Collection
- My fave Kristi Hines at Kikolani for her Fetching Friday linkfest.

Hey John, I love this weekend wrap up concept post you have going, really makes it easy to not only find good blogs, but also to know what they are talking about without clicking through.
Thanks for the linklove too my friend, I am in some pretty esteemed company there I see, so thank you.

Alex, I’m glad you like the weekend links feature; it’s fun to write, though a bit time-consuming.
And you definitely deserve to be here.
John, thanks for the mention.
I did weekly round up posts for months, it turned out to be exhausting, and the articles never got any return traffic! The whole Week In Review series has the lowest traffic number on the blog. Which kind of sucks, because I consider them some of the best articles of all.
Dave, thanks for sharing your experience with it. This is only my third week, so I’ll wait and see how much traffic the posts get over a couple-month period, and then factor in the extensive time it takes to do these.
I’ve found that writing up each individual mention in the Wordpress post as I go through my week makes the task much easier.
I always enjoy reading what others find interesting or appealing. You always find a new blog or post that you hadn’t seen, but to agree with Dave, these can get exhausting.

Mike, I’m glad you liked the post. I enjoy doing them — so far.
I’m always evaluating my return on investment, but I do think these are valuable posts to readers. Time will tell…
