Welcome to the Selling Information Products blog.

I’m John Soares, and I’m definitely not an expert at selling information products. I’m not an Internet marketing guru, and I don’t have an expensive course on how-to-get-rich-quick selling info products online. (Or an inexpensive course either.)

I have written an e-book and an audio book on how to be a highly productive freelance writer, and I’ve written an e-book on my main freelance writing specialty: writing supplements and ancillaries for college textbooks. (See the book covers in the right-hand column.) I have at least a dozen other potential products, with three or four on the short-term horizon and one which I’ve already started.

I’ve created this blog to share my journey with others who are serious about creating information products — and making money from selling them. I’ll divulge my successes and failures, and what I’ve learned.

There’s a continuum of knowledge, skill, ability, and actual achievement in selling information products. Some of you are right about where I am, some of you are a bit behind, and some or you are ahead. We can share tips and and experiences and help each other succeed.

Please read the title tag carefully. Note the word “ethically.” I am only interested in creating information products that:

1. Help people improve their lives in some way, be that becoming healthier or happier, making more money, improving skills, learning new things, etc.
2. Have a sales page that clearly states the benefits of the product and doesn’t try to trick potential customers
3. Have a money-back guarantee for purchasers.

If you are interested in shady techniques or scamming people, go away.
